Polenta toast stack: Grand Central Cafe review

Being a foodie means day dreaming about amazing meals from time to time. I’m throwing it back to this delicious polenta toast stack that I recently had at Grand Central Cafe.

I love dining in restaurants that have some sort of personality and Grand Central Cafe certainly isn’t just a kitchen and four walls. It’s situated in the Piazza in Melrose Arch and the decor is inspired by Grand Central station in NYC. I was so excited to explore their menu. If a restaurant can take me to a different destination without me having to pay expensive travel costs then I’m sold haha!

It was a sunny afternoon filled with chats and gifts with my blogging girls:

We had fun by putting our blogging knowledge to the test through short quizzes and I won some of these quirky prizes from www.amazeblog.com for scoring top marks, thanks Cass!

Now onto the food…The sliders looked really good but I wanted to try something new so I opted for the polenta toast stack. It was a combination of poached eggs on polenta toast stacked with sweetcorn, avocado salsa, pan-roasted tomatoes, wilted rocket, pesto, and Napolitano & Grana Padano Parmesan shavings. I really don’t like pesto so I left that out of the meal.

Final thoughts

I must admit that I’m a lazy cook and I don’t bother much with presentation when I cook for myself but when eating out I still feel that presentation is key and they got it right. It was a party in my mouth with different textures and flavours perfectly complimenting each other. It would go well with a glass of white wine. The ambience is awesome and the manager was really friendly. Grand Central Cafe is, however, pricey so I wouldn’t go there often but I do want go back to try other things on their menu.
