After quite some time I’ve finally gotten around to doing a look post, YAY! During my teen years I use to despise lace because I thought it was so “granny-ish”, oh how our styles evolve. I’ve fallen in love with lace and when I spotted this off-the-shoulder lace top at Forever New ON SALE I had to have it.

The off-the-shoulder trend is definitely one that I wholeheartedly buy into; if it’s going to show off my rarely seen tattoo then I have to have it (LOL). I’ve had this mesh skirt for a couple of years and feel that it’s such a versatile item that can be dressed up or down. This was my outfit of the day for my second graduation ceremony (2 degrees in the bag at the age of 22, BOOM).

When it comes to handbags, I like to keep it simple and chic. This black and beige Fiorelli bag is a staple item as it can compliment a variety of looks.

I didn’t get to capture this look on my graduation day but I did finally get around to shooting it. During this photo shoot I felt a bit awkward & uncomfortable in front of the camera, because I was too focused on directing attention away from what I viewed as imperfections: My flabby arms and my big stomach (cue the “fupa”). My confidence was half alive and in that moment I had to remind myself to fully love myself and my journey. We don’t half love ourselves just because we haven’t obtained that degree, purchased our dream home or had that beautiful baby yet so why half love ourselves for our evolving bodies?

Today, I stop limiting myself.

Today, I post the picture that shows some imperfection and might not get all the likes.

Today, I am liberated from self-hatred.

Today, I reimagine what beauty is.

Now, the paradigm shift from self-hating to having a positive body image doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a continuous process of unlearning and relearning.

This is my daily mantra: There is no right way to have a body so stop focusing on what your body is not. You are able, you are enough. Embrace your authentic self and the world will follow suit.
