Beauty blender: DIY cleaning

Beauty blenders seem to be all the craze right now so I decided to give it a try. Best decision I’ve made in a while!

I got this beauty blender from Dischem on Sale for less than R30, now that’s a big win if you ask me. They come in different colours, shapes and sizes.

I use it everyday to blend my foundation and boy, does it work. It leaves my skin looking flawless unlike other methods of blending that sometimes make the foundation look unnatural, like its “caked on”. I apply the foundation directly onto my skin and then use the beauty blender. The tip of the beauty blender gets into all the difficult areas like under the eyes and allows me to blend it in with my neck.

It is a sponge so it’s super absorbent and without cleaning it you can experience breakouts (not fun!). On that note, a good cleaning method is essential. Here’s my easy DIY method:

Step 1: Dampen the beauty blender
Step 2: Dab a coin sized amount of dish washing liquid onto the beauty blender
Step 3: Massage the liquid into the beauty blender in an upward direction until the foundation is out
Step 4: Rinse and massage until all of the dish washing liquid and foundation is completely out

If you find that the foundation is difficult to remove then repeat step 2 until 4.

Along with keeping your beauty blender clean, it’s important to cleanse your face. Have a look at the Garnier Oil Control Complete

    1. I know, right? Cleaning can be such a schlep especially because we have to clean them so often. But this is by far the easiest method I’ve tried 🙂 good luck with finding it lol x

  1. I use a beauty blender as well and I agree with you 100% on saying it is amazing!
However, I wash mine with baby shampoo instead of dish washing liquid! It cleans my beauty blender so good and leaves it smelling clean and fresh. 🙂

  2. this is so helpful! my blending sponge has been getting so clogged up with foundation and concealer that it just doesn’t have the same effect! I’ll be sure to give this a go!

    1. I’m happy that you found this to be helpful 🙂 It’s all fun and games until the blending sponge gets clogged up with foundation and concealer lol
